From newsreader to Strictly Come Dancing star and featuring in one of the most iconic moments of '70s TV, Plymouth-born Angela Rippon has been a TV legend for decades.
After starting her career in local journalism she became the face of the BBC's Nine O'Clock News before presenting the original dance show, Come Dancing, Top Gear and the Eurovision Song Contest.
In 1976, she appeared on the Morecambe and Wise Christmas Show and the legendary clip of her dance skills has been shown countless times over the years.
In 2023 she became the oldest contestant on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing at the age of 79 when she was partnered with Kai Widdrington and made it through to the coveted Blackpool stage.
This weekend the host of more recent shows like Rip Off Britain, will be seen on Channel 5 presenting the first episode of the series Angela Rippon's River Cruises. Here we take a look at her split from her childhood sweetheart and her net worth.
Divorce from childhood sweetheart
In 1967, a year after she started her career, Angela married her childhood sweetheart Christopher Dare.
At the time, Angela was 22 years old. She reportedly met the engineer at a YMCA dance. The couple, who never had children, lived out their married life in a picturesque 17th-century cottage on the edge of the moorlands of Dartmoor, but sadly, their love story ultimately didn't have a fairytale ending.
In 1989, the duo decided to go their separate ways. She didn't publicly announce the split for more than a year. By that point, Christopher was already living with a fellow divorcée, Judy.
When she was 60 years old, Angela opened up about this "stressful" period in her life during an interview with Modern & Mature, recalling: "I don't think it did because it wasn't an acrimonious split.
"It was a stress, of course it was. It was a very stressful period for all sorts of reasons. My immediate feeling was, 'Oh God, I've failed at this'. But in fact, he and I are still good friends.
"I talk to him on the phone a couple of times a month. We email each other. He lives in Spain now with his partner, Judy. We exchange cards at birthdays and Christmas. Judy kind of updates me on what they're doing with their home down in Spain. It's a good relationship for all of us."

According to the online site Celebrity Net Worth, Angela's long and hugely successful career has reaped rewards and she's reportedly worth $10m, which is around £8.5m

A synopsis for Angela Rippon's River Cruises states: "Angela showcases some of the world's most famous waterways, beginning with an adventure along the Danube, Europe's second-longest river.
"She joins her ship in Budapest, taking in a whistlestop tour of Hungary's capital, then continues through Slovakia to Vienna, the capital of Austria.
"Here, she samples delicious cakes while musing on the city's cafe culture and how it attracted great musicians, architects and innovators. She also visits the Unesco world heritage site of the Wachau Valley, where she takes a cycle ride."
Angela Rippon's River Cruises is on Channel 5 on Saturday, May 9 at 8pm
